FOURTEEN teachers and schools’ coaches yesterday successfully completed a two-day Football Coaches Course which was conducted by instructors Rajesh Latchoo of Trinidad and Tobago and Stan Harmon of the United States of America at the Ministry of Education Sports Complex on Carifesta Avenue. The tournament was organised to give the coaches the required training ahead of the Scotiabank-Pepsi Schools football tournament which opens today at GFC ground,
Latchoo said the coaches were very enthusiastic and responded well to the training.
The Trinidadian is a qualified coach who specialises in the Dutch version of coaching at a basic level for players.
The coaches were exposed to the practical warm-up, their role as coaches and organising training sessions.
Twelve schools will participate in the tournament in both male and female categories.
The successful coaches were Uzzi Yisrael of St Stanislaus College, John Barnwell – Queen’s College, Selwyn Browne – East Ruimveldt Secondary, Roderick Gordon – Central High, Rudolph Critchlow and Jennifer Langevine – Tucville Secondary, Floyd Philips – St George’s Secondary, Kirk Moses and Patrick Bourne – Tutorial High, Joseph Wilson and Celeste Mullin – North Georgetown Secondary, Leon Bishop of Lodge Secondary, Levin Thomas of New Campbellville Secondary and Andel Bethune of Charlestown Secondary.
