Lamaha Springs burglaries….

Three put on bail, arrest warrant issued for one
HAKEEM Hope (no address given) appeared in Court yesterday, charged with break and enter and larceny committed at six different houses in Lamaha Springs, Georgetown.
His co-defendant, Leron Lewis, did not appear and an arrest warrant was issued for him.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, Hope pleaded not guilty to having:
* on February 15, 2012, in Demerara Street, broken and entered the dwelling house of Brian Mc Kenzie and stole items valued $1.6M;
* on February 20, 2012, in George Avenue, broken and entered the dwelling house of Kurt Corbin and stole booty worth $132,100;
* between January 1 and 4, 2012, in Berbice Street, broken and entered the dwelling house of Sheila Tyrell and stole things with a value of $201,000;
* on February 22, 2012, in Mazaruni Street, broken and entered the dwelling house of Lavern Lawrence and stole $1.1M;
* between November 20 and 30, 2011, in Berbice Street, broken and entered the dwelling house of Donald Wallerson and stole property worth $594,000 and
* on November 20, 2011, in Emanuel Street, broken and entered the dwelling house of George Jacobs and stole articles with a value of $350,000.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Ronald Burch-Smith, for the defendant, secured his pre-trial bail for $500,000, until March27.
The lawyer claimed that the other defendant was not arrested because he has family members in the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
Meanwhile, in the same court, Raphael Lindo and Selwyn Devonish (no addresses given) were charged with receiving stolen goods and both pleaded not guilty.
The charge against Lindo said, on February 15, he received a quantity of gold jewellery, among other things valued $1.6M, knowing same to be the stolen or unlawfully obtained property of Brian Mc Kenzie.
In the case of Devonish, it was stated that, between January 1 and 4 last, he received one television set among other items, worth $201,000, knowing them to be the stolen or unlawfully obtained property of Sheila Tyrell.
The duo was each placed on $75,000 bail, also until March 27.
