A MAN charged with unlawfully assaulting his pregnant girlfriend was remanded to prison yesterday. Paul Waldron (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya-Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to having, last February 22, assaulted Anna Maria Chung to cause her actual bodily harm.
Police Corporal Jairam Luckhai, prosecuting, said, that day, Chung went to the defendant’s home to enquire of his whereabouts and was told he was asleep. She waited for a while and, when he woke up, cuffed her about her body.
The prisoner will make his next court appearance on March 5.
