10 Dentex complete two-year certificate programme

AS the country continues to progress to greater levels of economic stability, more resources are being invested by the administration on training health workers. And on Friday, another batch of persons completed training, this time as Dentex personnel. Minister of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran, while delivering the feature address at the graduation ceremony at Cara Lodge for the 10 young professionals who completed the two-year certificate programme, noted that the graduation ceremony signals a new beginning for the dental fraternity, since it is the first group to graduate from collaboration between the University of Guyana and the Ministry of Health’s Dentex certificate programme.

Urging the batch to reflect on the contributions that persons would have made to help them to successfully complete this programme, Minister Ramsaran said that the graduation is just another indication of the administration’s thrust to provide more services to Guyanese.
The investments made by the administration, he said, can only be sustained with an educated and motivated workforce to deliver services to people in need in a professional manner.
“You have to maintain that level of professionalism in your line of duties, at the same time striving for excellence at every stage of your life, using this foundation course to achieve greater things,” Minister Ramsaran said.
He assured the graduates that the government, through the Ministry of Health, will continue to support them in their future endeavours.
The graduates, Minister Ramsaran said, will be attached to various institutions across the country, including Regions 2, 4 and 8.

Director of Health Sciences Education within the Ministry of Health, Noel Holder, also used the opportunity to join other members of the dental fraternity in congratulating the graduates for their dedication and commitment in completing the programme.
Also addressing the graduates was President of the Dental Council Dr. Ovid Isaacs.
The programme started in 2009 at the Cheddi Jagan Dental Centre, and was completed early this year.
At present, over 40 young people are enrolled in the programme at the various levels. (GINA)
