Reggae Girls to raise curtain on Under-17 Finals

NEW YORK, United States (CMC) – Jamaica’s young Reggae Girls will help raise the curtain on the CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s Championship when they face hosts Guatemala on the opening night of the competition in May. The Caribbean side’s clash with Guatemala on May 2 forms part of a Group A doubleheader which also sees Panama engage Canada.
CONCACAF on Thursday announced the final itinerary for the tournament which runs from May 2 to May 12 at the Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City.
Trinidad and Tobago, one of three Caribbean sides involved in the eight-team tournament, will begin their campaign the next night as they meet powerhouse Mexico in Group B
The Bahamas also face United States in the other part of the double-header.
The group winners will face the runners-up from the other group in the semi-finals on May 10, with the third-place and the tournament final scheduled to be staged two days later.
Much will be at stake on championship day as the two finalists and the winner of the third-place game qualify for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan scheduled for September 22 to October 13.
