MINI-BUS conductor Trevor Merriman, 22, a minibus conductor, was yesterday remanded to prison on a robbery under arms charge when he appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson. Trevor Merriman, 22, of ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on February 22, being armed with an ice-pick, he robbed Satesh Mohabir of one bank card and a cell phone, valued a total of $28,000.
Police Sergeant Tracymay Gittens, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was at a shop, drinking with his friends, when he was attacked by the defendant and another person.
The prosecutor said the victim had gone to the urinal when the defendant brandished the weapon at him and took away his belongings.
But, after Mohabir raised an alarm, public-spirited citizens apprehended the defendant while his accomplice escaped.
Merriman will make another Court appearance on March 13.
