LENNOX Wayne, 23, of Lot 1308 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was remanded to prison on Thursday, on a simple larceny charge. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to having, on January 10, stolen one gold chain valued $20,000, property of Richlyn Springer.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was in the same minibus and, when the defendant disembarked, he grabbed the jewel off her neck.
The prosecutor said an alarm was raised and Wayne was apprehended with the booty in his pocket.
Wayne has to make his next court appearance on January 17.
