GREETINGS! My choice for speaker for the 10th Parliament is Mr. Ralph Ramkarran. Simply put, Mr Ramkarran is known for his impartiality and expertise in dealing with Parliamentary matters and issues. He was even praised by both sides of the House for his fairness at the conclusion of the 9th Parliament. Guyana still attains the Westminster Parliamentary system whereby the party that wins the largest number of seats at elections wins the presidency and is entitled to form the government, as well as an entitlement to the speakership of the Parliament. In the interest of moving Guyana forward and placing Guyana first above political partisanship, I am humbly appealing to both APNU and the AFC to exhibit their political maturity by supporting Mr. Ralph Ramkarran as speaker of our 10th Parliament, and work within the confines of the tripartite arrangement established by His Excellency President Donald Ramotar.
But while the opposition in Parliament is entitled to their views, this is a testing time for them provided by the electorate at the recent elections to deliver responsibly, so that the business of government in the interest of the Guyanese people can be achieved.
