JP’s visit Berbice

A TEAM comprising  the President, the General Secretary and two other executive members of the Association of Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Oaths of Guyana visited Berbice on January 8, 2010 to meet Justices of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths in that county. The team visited Justices of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths individually at their homes in New Amsterdam, Canje and on the Corentyne Coast.
The reason for the visit was to sensitise  Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Oaths who are not yet members of the association, of the aims and objectives to encourage  them to become members.
All those visited were pleased to listen and learn what the association has been doing and the importance of them becoming members of the said association.
The January 2010 visit will be followed by another one before the end of the first quarter of 2012. This time to set up a Berbice chapter of the association and hold a one-day seminar where the participants will learn of the history behind the appointment of Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Oaths, the need for Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Oaths in the society and to keep abreast with the laws in relation to the functions of Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Oaths.
Members of the visiting team were impressed with how Berbicians keep their surroundings clean.
