–some complain market slow
PRICES for some fruits and vegetables remain unchanged on the local market, despite the Christmas holidays having come to an end. During the Christmas season, consumers were greeted with high prices for such fruits and vegetables as apples, grapes, pears, cabbages, bora, sweet peppers and seasonings.
Yesterday, a tour of the local markets revealed that some prices remain unchanged from what obtained during the festive season.
Some fruit vendors claimed that the prices for grapes, apples and pears remain unchanged throughout the year, but others admitted that the prices would normally go up during the holiday season.
One fruit vendor said the prices for apples went down, but those for grapes remained unchanged. Other fruits on the markets are at their usual prices.
Most greens’ vendors stated that the prices generally remain stable, but for some greens, the prices will go up during the rainy season.
As usual, during the holiday season, the price for eggs always hit the roof. Most consumers paid $1,500 for one tray of eggs, but the price is now at $960.
Stallholders in the grocery sections are complaining of slow business, but those in the greens and fruits sections are reporting sales as usual.
