A TWELVE-YEAR-OLD primary school pupil of Lima Sands on Essequibo Coast is in severe pain at the Suddie Hospital after allegedly being brutally raped, on Christmas Eve night, by a nephew of her stepfather at Anna Regina. Reports said she had left home with her stepfather to go to Anna Regina Market but, on her return home, her mother observed several marks on her body and enquired what had caused them.
The mother said she was told by her daughter that a 17-year-old nephew of her husband had raped her while at Anna Regina.
The mother said a report was immediately made at Anna Regina Police Station and the 17-year-old suspect was arrested but subsequently released.
However, the woman said her daughter is still crying out for pain while the alleged rapist is free and boasting, to his friends, that he has plucked a red cherry.
The mother of the victim said she is not pleased with the way the police are treating the matter and wants the Minister of Home Affairs to intervene, so justice can prevail.
