THE PPP/C has a rich and dignified history, that is, it has never lost an election once it is free and fair. On the other hand PNC/APNU cannot speak in such tones they have to hang their heads in shame for the atrocities meted out to the Guyanese people by way of rigging. They are so good at the trade that our Caribbean neighbours fear the Guyanese scourge would contaminate their system. Incidentally, from confirmed reports, that has been the situation here in St Lucia where the “Guyanese influence” has marred the electoral process this last general elections. So Guyanese and I should rightly say the PNC has gained notoriety!
Now election 2011 has concluded and the PPP/C has won the elections, they have done so lacking the convincing wide margin as in previous years thanks to the rigging machinery of the PNC/APNU. It is indeed an endemic system that we mistakenly thought was dead but is alive and well. I can guarantee you that rigging did take place as reported in some 43 polling stations which prompted the PPP/C’s call for a recount because they knew full well this would reveal the gross irregularities done there. GECOM did commence the verification of the figures submitted, that is, the synchronization of statement of polls and the preliminary count. PNC/APNU not willing to be exposed then accused GECOM of fiddling around with the figures to show a PPP/C victory when they knew darn well that they had already lost even though they rigged. GECOM and PPP/C had few options – risk mayhem, which is a common spectacle when PNC loses, or accept a win with a reduced majority. In the interest of peace and stability they chose the latter.
Why is the PNC/APNU bellyaching they have not won the election? They have received 26 seats two of which were gained fraudulently. Are these shameless human beings for real? Where in God’s green earth a party gaining twenty six seats out of a total of 65 seats can claim they have won an election? It’s amazing these people cannot sink to a lower level.
