THE people have spoken and the message is loud and clear. No one party was able to secure an overwhelming majority. We cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend that all is well from a racial perspective.

This is an excellent opportunity to heal and for the politicians to show the young of Guyana that the races can indeed live in harmony.

The only way that this can be accomplished is to have a Government of National Unity. This will truly make all Guyanese feel enfranchised, empowered and a sense of belonging.
A National Unity Government cannot be seen as an Indian or African Government but truly ‘our’ Government.
What an opportunity!!! What an exciting time if all Guyanese can now be moving forward in one direction…how much stronger Guyana will be!

It is now up to the politicians to show that level of maturity. Time to get rid of the winner take all mentality. The world is watching for such statesmanship.
