HAT-TRICKS from Anthony Sancho and Deron Bowen led the way for Northern Rangers as they steamrolled Houston Stars over the weekend in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) President Beer Super League Competition at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground. The day saw Northern Rangers record a 10-1 win over the opposition, Flamingo trounce Black Pearl 3-0 Alpha United get past GFC 4 – 1.
In Northern Rangers’ clash Sancho scored in the 11th, 12th and 16th minutes while Bowen picked up his hat-trick in the 20th, 31st and 72nd minutes.
They were supported by their teammates Simon Emanuel (4th), Gavin Bobb (47th) and Mark Trotman (61st) and were gifted with an own goal from the opposition. Houston Stars, who scored a consolation goal in the 69th minute compliments of Rickford Cummings.
The opening match between Flamingo and Black Pearl saw goals from Ronald Belle, Jermaine Fletcher and Dwayne Layne in the 13th, 33rd and 74th minutes, respectively.
Alpha United striker Mannaseh Primo drew first blood for them in the seventh minute as they led 1-0 at the halftime whistle. In the second half, goals from Selwyn Isaacs (52bd) and Dwight Peters (65th and 72nd) secured the win for Alpha United.
The action continues tomorrow at the GFC ground from 18:00hrs as Beacon United face University of Guyana while GFC go head-to-head with Riddim Squad at 20:00hrs.
