Detained juror returns to court

–but Bagotstown murder trial further adjourned
THE voir dire (a trial within a trial) in the Bagotstown murder trial, which was halted this week because of the absence of a juror (detained by the police whilst they were investigating a shooting incident), resumed in court yesterday.
But although that juror was present, the case was further postponed to today, to await a witness for the prosecution.
The witness, a doctor, is expected to testify at the voir dire, which is being conducted by Justice Dawn Gregory to determine the admissibility of certain evidence.
Leading prosecutor Miss Prithima Kissoon, who is conducting the case in association with Miss Konyo Sandiford from the Chambers of the DPP, will deliver her opening address to the jury at the substantive trial at the conclusion of the voir dire.
The accused, Travis Rudder, is indicted for the murder of Donnis King on May 23, 2007.
He has pleaded not guilty to the offence, and is being represented by Attorney-at-law Mr. Glenn Hanoman.
The hearing continues today.
