SEVERAL winners in the Ministry’s Inter-Block competition yesterday received $50 000 cash prizes and trophies in a presentation ceremony held in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS) Boardroom. Minister Frank Anthony addressed the participants and media personnel where he highlighted the importance of the community programme. He also stated the benefits of such programmes, which can be used to reduce the risks of some chronic non-communicable diseases.
He also noted that the ministry will continue to support this venture with the hope of widening its reach.
Parliamentary Secretary Steve Ninvalle said that the presentation was for teams in the East Coast, East Bank and West Demerara Zones.
He noted that the East Coast finals will be held under floodlights at the Buxton Community Centre ground this evening with teams representing Buxton, Ann’s Grove, Victoria, Melanie Damishana & Beterverwagting.
