SG on Barbados mission

Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque is on an official visit to Barbados until Thursday, November 10. A release from the CARICOM Secretariat informing of the visit stated that the Secretary-General will  meet with the Prime Minister of Barbados, Freundel Stuart and Foreign Minister, Senator Maxine McLean.
Ambassador LaRocque will also be paying courtesy calls on the heads of a number of regional institutions based in Barbados including the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) and the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).
There will also be meetings with the heads of the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) and the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration (CARICAD), as well as the Programme Co-ordinator for the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC).
The Secretary-General will also take the opportunity to meet with leaders of the Barbados Private Sector as well as with the group of tertiary students from Barbados who participated in a Regional Project entitled “Youth Engaging the CSME”, the release added.
The Barbados Head of Government has lead responsibility for the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) in the quasi –cabinet established by CARICOM Leaders.
Ambassador LaRocque is also scheduled to have an interactive discussion with representatives of the Barbadian media.
