What to wear on Election Day

THE 2011 Election is just around the corner. For many of us, fashion is all about making a statement. So, what will you be wearing when you cast your ballot?
Hmmm! Jeans, tee-shirt, jersey, working uniform, skirt and blouse, dress, sneakers, slippers, sandal, shoes,  heels or pumps?

Fashion brings together glamour, beauty, confidence, pride and tradition, all wrapped up in one package.  Each of us has our own taste in style, and often we mix and match colour schemes and accessories that go well together. Election Day is no exception to be fashionable. It is actually a good day to look and feel great! After all, you are celebrating your right and freedom to speak with your vote.

First-time voters should, however, take note: At the Polling Station, you are not allowed to wear any kind of slogan that indicates your preference for a particular party. For example:  Party T-shirts, hats, buttons and so on should not be worn at the Polling Station.  If you go to the Polling Station dressed in ‘party wear’, meaning clothes that represent a particular party, this may upset other voters and may even interfere with your chances of being able to cast your ballot. You may be asked to leave and return in more appropriate clothes.

So guys, whether November 28 will be a working day for you or not, check your wardrobe and choose wisely when you are heading to the Polling Station. Think along the line of comfortable, classy and stylish. Most of us are concerned about being fashionable and looking great. Young adults are usually more open to fashion trends since our main concern is always to look good and stylish. On Election Day, just like any other day, you should look ‘hip’. But remember: No slogans!

Also, when you are in the line awaiting your turn to vote, try not to engage in conversations that may lead to any heated political discussions.  Make sure you take at least a bottle of water to drink, and something to munch on, just in case everyone else decides to go to the Polling Station at the same time. You may end up having to wait for a bit. So come dressed in your style. See you there!
