Dr. Jagdeo -true legend weathering the hard times

ONE must not criticise a seat unless they sit in it; and when one can take some knocks and fall down, then show the courage to get up and start going again, then such persons must be honoured and recognised for their courage and confidence. That is the story of a true Guyanese legendary leader.
At a time when racialism was plaguing the face of the nation; economies were
going through hard times;the treasury was in deficit; recession was hard hitting the wider world and crime was escalating, one leader stood to face the critics of the entire nation. He was lambasted, talked down and ridiculed, but the courage was so great that he did not run, he did not hide, he did not fail nor give up, he did not despise us; rather, he walked with us side by side and lobbied to ensure that every Guyanese see themselves as valuable people who can work together to erase all barriers and obstacles. These are some definitions and qualities our dear leader Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, a man that stood good, hard and bad times in the interest of his Guyanese people.
The young, energetic leader of modern day has shown diligence, forward thinking, charisma and depth in management and today we can say his macro-economic policies have bailed Guyana out of a country that was once heavily indebted and failing to a vibrant, growing economy.
Dr. Jagdeo’s open heart to embrace Guyanese ideology and to erase the racial barriers in Guyana has seen the integration of multi-ethnicity within our government structure and he has used the potential of his fellow statesman to ensure that every Guyanese enjoys a nation of prosperity.
Today, major transformations are evident in ethnicity as we no longer feel the extent of creed and anger within our various races. The opposition may argue  what is  Jagdeo’s legacy, but we must be fair and honest and give “Jack his jacket”, because this young leader has done enough during his tenure;just to name a few: the Berbice River Bridge; The Guyana National Stadium; the stabilising of the economy and the control of foreign exchange rates; the Guyana maritime boundary; the placement of Guyana on the international face of the world with its LCDS Policy; One Laptop Per Family; Guyana’s housing drive; soon connecting Guyana to Suriname amongst many others.
This statesman and Guyanese icon’s potential must not be left to idle; he must continue in his fight to make the Region a better place. Guyanese can say well done Dr. Jagdeo, but your job is not over. Dr. Jagdeo’s potential and negotiating ability tells us that our president must continue in the quest to serve humanity which is what he loves doing.
Now that he has served Guyanese with dignity he must now go onto to serve the CARICOM Community and we challenge him to take it on. He is seen as the ideal candidate for the Secretary-General of CARICOM. He led and leads with distinction. Just look at Guyana now and Guyana 15 years ago and in your quiet times just sit and make your own assumptions and assessment. They are many who conveniently criticise developments and the strides made under President Jagdeo’s stewardship, but facts shall remain facts and these are verifiable, just be conscious minded.
We believe as an independent organisation with an interest in Guyana’s development, that Dr. Jagdeo has left us a winning legacy and he is indeed a true legend who has weathered good, bad and hard times and stood with us side to side to give us the Guyana we now enjoy today. Our Excellency is a true Guyanese son and may God richly bless him in his endeavours.
We wish Guyana continued progress and may we continue to have a nation built on equitable principles and wealth distribution.
