A fatal accident occurred at about 07:00 hours yesterday at Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, and is being investigated by the police. The mishap resulted in the death of 79-year-old pedestrian Henry Sookra.
Investigations revealed that the driver of motor lorry GEE 7332 was reversing along John Street, Queenstown, when he allegedly struck down Henry Sookra, who was walking along the roadway.
Sookra was taken to the Suddie Hospital for medical treatment, but later died.
The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
