DOODNARINE Seenarine, in his letter titled ‘What infighting within the AFC? Take a look at the PPP/C and PNC’, published on October 9, 2011, by Kaieteur News, apparently cannot distinguish between the AFC’s infighting and its somewhat healthy political debate. I would like to remind Mr. Seenarine, who is probably ashamed to acknowledge the AFC’s internal problems, and prefers to call these problems a political debate, that there is infighting within the AFC.
One indicator is that Raphael Trotman issues all the major policy statements, and he is not the presidential candidate.
Further, the infighting stems from the fact that the AFC consists of hopscotch politicians and political opportunists, particularly Tarron Khemraj and Sasenarine Singh, and that AFC’s leaders Trotman and Ramjattan both want to be president.
So, while they appear to be pleasant towards each other, they all are hoping to be in the spotlight.  The AFC is quite divided today.
Well do not worry, Mr. Seenarine, it is natural for the AFC as an infant party to now experience the world of politics.
Also, since they are a new commodity, then they themselves seemingly do not know what effects their so-called strong messages, such as “bring change to the political sphere and the lives of the people of Guyana” will have on the Guyanese people.
So, the AFC should be the one to sit back and watch the PPP, the older, more mature and experienced party on the political landscape, to set the example, or, as the saying goes, “if you cannot beat them, you join them”.
