Jealousy of Guyana’s progress under Jagdeo ….

Opposition cannot deter young people’s enthusiasm
IMPRESS, a group of young professionals, views the misguided attacks on the President’s Day of Appreciation as another opportunity for the Alliance For Change (AFC) to use President Jagdeo’s peaking popularity to gain publicity.
They have attacked every single initiative undertaken by the Jagdeo Administration; and we have seen, over time, their analysis and predictions have been either inaccurate or completely out of touch. On Friday 16, Guyanese from all walks of life will publicly demonstrate their love, admiration and overwhelming support for President Bharrat Jagdeo for his outstanding contributions to Guyana’s transformation and growing international stature.
The President’s Day of Appreciation was conceptualized by a diverse community of Guyanese as a non-political, non-partisan activity, which will bring together persons from sectors such as youth, labour, business, religion, the elderly, and the Diaspora, sharing the view about setting a new precedent of appreciating our leaders for their outstanding work, and doing so while they are yet alive.
As young people, we believe Jagdeo’s astute management of the economy, sound initiatives that are  benefitting all Guyanese, including women, children, the elderly, public servants, young people, among others, as well as his massive transformation of several important sectors, earn him the right to the title, “Architect of modern Guyana”. It is rather shameful that, despite global recognition of Jagdeo’s sterling contribution to the development of Guyana, and the world at large, the AFC is incapable of putting aside partisan interest for one day, in an effort to do what the world has already done, show appreciation to President Jagdeo.
They remind us of famous reggae icon, Bob Marley, a King who was not crowned by his own.
Furthermore, the AFC is not without its jealousy for Guyana’s progress under Jagdeo, particularly because Jagdeo has outshone their so-called leaders, Ramjattan and Trotman, as one of Guyana’s youngest progressive sons.
Impress calls on all young people to pay their due recognition to President Jagdeo by turning up in our thousands at the Providence Stadium on Friday 16, as we did for the Impress-youth conference and expo a few weeks ago.
As young people, we have the power to reject those who preach intolerance of each other, and take away the glory from those who are deserving of appreciation.
