Labour, Human Services Ministry to honour women of African descent

– through an exhibition
The Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security will be hosting an exhibition, titled ‘Kapée’ (a gathering to celebrate) as part of activities to observe ‘International Year of People of African Descent’.
The exhibition will be held under the theme ‘Reflecting on the past, honouring our ancestors and saluting today’s woman’ on the lawns of Castellani House, beginning August 29 at 16:30hrs. It will run until September 3. It will be open from 10:00hrs to 18:00 hrs daily.
Among the depictions will be the arrival of some of the ancestors of women of African descent, the countries, and the tribes and civilizations from which most of these, the ministry said in a release.
The exhibition will recount their tribulations and resistance, their indomitable spirit and resilience, the transformation of their lives after emancipation, the contribution of hundreds of their descendants to national development, the extent to which they have contributed at the international level, and instances in which they have impacted the lives and well being of persons internationally.
