Sentence today for thief recorded on camera

RAYMOND Rahaman (no address given) was remanded to prison on a simple larceny charge yesterday. He appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and pleaded guilty to having, on August 18 last, stolen one cooking gas cylinder, valued $15,000, property of Reena Ramlochand.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant operates a business and has surveillance cameras which recorded the defendant removing the item.
The prosecutor said Rahaman is known to the virtual complainant and, following a report, he was arrested.
The convict was remanded to prison overnight pending sentencing today.
