-suffers severe damages
A TRANS-GUYANA Airways aircraft yesterday skidded off an airstrip at Port Kaituma, Region One (Barima/Waini), public relations consultant to the airline Christopher ‘Kit’ Nascimento has confirmed. He said that neither the four passengers nor the pilot were injured during the mishap, reported to have occurred some time after noon yesterday.
According to unconfirmed reports, however, the aircraft is a wreck, and judging from photographs of it following the incident, this may be true as the plane appears to have suffered heavy damage from the impact.
Nicole Correia of Trans Guyana Airways subsequently told the Guyana Chronicle that an aircraft with a team of investigators was to have been dispatched to the scene of the incident to commence investigations.
The team is reported to comprise personnel from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
