…wants to surprise fans
GORGEOUS Shilpa Shetty, one of the most popular Indian film actresses and models worldwide, is all set to bring her brand of Bollywood glamour to the first ever “Jamzone Bollywood Night” tonight at the National Stadium. At a press conference hosted yesterday at the Princess Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara, the actress remained tight-lipped about what she has in store, saying that she wants her act to be a surprise. Observing that Bollywood music is loved in Guyana, she said coming to Guyana was a “huge compliment”. Continuing, she described the people as warm, loving and hospitable.
Speaking on her lifestyle, Shetty noted that while she will always be interested in movies, her current focus is on her marriage, starting a family and business ventures. The star, who got married to Indian entrepreneur Raj Kundra in November 2009, said that “being married is a full- time job”.
Shetty also had advice to impart urging her young fans to be focused, dedicated, goal- oriented and hardworking, positing that nothing is better than achieving success on your own.
She has appeared in over 40 Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada Films. Her riveting performances in movies such as Dhadkan (2000) and her portrayal of an AIDS patient in Phir Milenge (2004) have won her many accolades and positive reviews globally.
In 2006, Shilpa proved her additional talents, winning the British Celebrity Big Brother TV Show.
The Bollywood event this evening will replace the customary Chutney Night concert and will also feature performances from the Trinidadian Karma Band, Hitman, international dancer Nikita, local star Fiona, the Apsara dancers, the Shiv Shakti band of Trinidad, and others.
The concert is one of a packed 10 days of activities for Jamzone Summerbreak this year.
