Would an AFC government ban imported building materials?

I am writing with regard to an article that appeared in the Kaieteur News under the headline: “PPP’s economic performance susceptible to external shocks, price uncertainty – AFC” by no other than  Dr. Tarron Khemraj. According to Khemraj, “While we support housing for the masses, we believe the minister is mistaken to believe this sector can sustain long-term growth in the Guyanese economy.  Most house-building materials are imported, thus the housing programme is not contributing to the kind of industry linkages the AFC envisages.”

Most Guyanese ought to be in total shock and outrage to this so-called doctor’s statement.

This so called doctor, Tarron Khemraj, must be made to say to all Guyanese if imported building materials will be banned from entering Guyana under an AFC-led government.

Guyanese know too well not so long ago a political party that was in power banned certain foods from entering Guyana.
