SOME people seem to run away with the idea that the APNU would be a better pick for the upcoming elections, but they fail to realise that APNU is really the PNCR in disguise. It was just a name change. Everything else remains the same because the other parties that joined the PNCR in this new coalition are just one-man paper parties. Letter writer Malcolm Harripaul, in the Kaieteur News of August 9, says that it is time that Indian Guyanese get rid of the Jagdeo/Ramotar racism that has kept them in fear of other Guyanese. One sure way to defeat racism is to vote for APNU.
I believe that Guyanese know the score on this, and if Mr. Harripaul was not as out of touch with the reality as the Granger-led APNU, he would know that the PPP/C has not won its elections on the basis of one-race voting.
The polls have spoken in the past elections. The PPP/C gained votes in many areas which were not considered its stronghold and this is all because the Guyanese people believed in the good work that the administration is doing.
Guyanese have been trying to move away from these racial issues that arise at elections time but it is people like Harripaul who try to keep these issues alive. When will these people realise that Guyana has moved beyond these things? That Guyanese are striving for better things in life and politics.
Malcom Harripaul is out of touch with reality
