Farmers benefiting from Government Supenaam Creek investment
ALLIANCE for Change (AFC) Member of the Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Mr. Archie Cordis has said farmers are benefiting from the massive Government investments in the Supenaam Creek area. Speaking at yesterday’s statutory meeting of the RDC, he said the investments referred to are in drainage and irrigation (D&I).
Regional Chairman, Mr. Ali Baksh said the expenditure is to push the ‘grow more food’ drive and give farmers a good D&I network in the Supenaam Creek area.
According to him, the Government has invested millions of dollars to excavate new drainage canals on the banks of the Supenaam Creek to spur agricultural development.
He also reminded Councillors that Government has invested millions of dollars under the now ended Poor Rural Community Support Services Programme (PRCSSP) to open some 300 acres of virgin forested land there.
