Stabroek Rotary awarded with Rotary International’s Presidential Citation with Distinction

THE Rotary Club of Stabroek, was recently presented with one of Rotary International’s highest award at an induction ceremony for its new president and board of directors at the Pegasus Hotel’s Savannah suite.

The presentation was made by District 7030 (Caribbean) Assistant District Governor for Guyana, Ivor O’Brien.  O’Brien told the gathering of Rotarians and sponsors and partners, “I wish to place on record my distinct pleasure at having worked with the Rotary Club of Stabroek during the past year (2010 – 2011).
“Your club being awarded a Presidential Citation with distinction, in addition to a number of District Awards for the Rotary Year 2010-2011, is no mean achievement and was not acquired by accident, and therefore calls for celebration. The celebration however, must end at some time, and the work must continue. There is much work to be done and the year ahead will be full of challenges, and these challenges are more evident when one peruses the goals set by the President of Rotary International and our own District Governor Laura.”

The other accolades the club received include Best Club in District 7030 (Caribbean), District 7030 Literacy Award, and Best Attendance for a large club in District 7030.

Stabroek’s President, Anand Harrilall received the awards and told Rotarians, “I am confident and proud to say that with your skills, dedication and resources we have had a good year.
“The four awards we received from District 7030 and Rotary International are in recognition of our collective efforts. We should celebrate our accomplishments and use these to our full advantage to leverage support for the club in the future,” Harrilall said.
