Enmore fatal accident…

Two persons remain warded at Georgetown Public Hospital
TWO of the victims of last Friday’s fatal accident which claimed the life of 68-year-old Shrantrine Sookdeo at Enmore, East Coast Demerara remain warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital and being treated for multiple injuries.
Those hospitalized are Lucille Abrams of 123 Enmore North, who sustained several cuts to her right hand; injuries to her head and neck (now fitted with a brace) and burns to the left leg. Abrams who continues to cry out for pains, remains confined to bed while awaiting further medical tests and scans.

The driver of the police vehicle involved in the accident, Mark Jones, 21, of D-Field, South Sophia is warded at the Male Accident Ward and is being treated for injuries to the head, neck and a broken nose. His condition is said to be critical but stable.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Anthony Reece, another police rank who suffered a broken left leg and injuries to the abdomen was discharged on Saturday. His condition is said to be stable.

The accident happened around 14:30 hrs at the junction of the Enmore Public Road and GuySuco Access Road. The women were reportedly standing at the roadside awaiting transportation to get home after shopping at the Enmore market when they were struck down. Sookdeo was pronounced dead on arrival at Accident and Emergency (A&E) Unit of the GPHC.
