THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission continues on its historic trail as it takes the Day of Interaction to yet another hinterland community – Mahdia in Region 8. The activity, which is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission in partnership with the Regional Administration of Region 8, will be held tomorrow at the Mahdia and Campbelltown Sports Grounds.
Neighbouring Communities such as Mahdia, 7 Miles, Central Mahdia, Campbelltown, Micobie among others will be involved in a number of sport disciplines, softball cricket, football, domino, volleyball and circle tennis. Females and Juniors will participate in the events.
An opening ceremony, which includes a March Past of Athletes and Officials, Welcome Remarks by Regional Chairman Mr Senor Bell and Remarks by Director of Sport . Neil Kumar and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon Dr Frank Anthony, will commence at 09:00hrs.
The Closing Ceremony will see outstanding athletes and teams receive trophies for their performances.
The Minister and his party will take the opportunity to hold discussions with residents of the various communities to find out their needs with regard to sports and sports facilities. The team will also distribute sports gear and equipment to the communities to assist in the development of sports in Region 8.
The Regional Chairman and the Regional Executive Officer at a meeting with the Director of Sport Mr Neil Kumar have indicated that plans for their historic event in Region 8 are well on the way and the Day of Interaction will attract hundreds of residents.
