International Building Expo 2011 generates excitement

GREAT excitement and expectation surround the upcoming International Building Expo 2011 to be held on July 29, 30 and 31 at the National Stadium, Providence.
This event, the second of its kind to be staged in Guyana, promises to be even more innovative, informative, and intense than last year’s, as even more exhibitors have registered to participate.
Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali, noted that the country is experiencing a new dimension in its development phase and this exhibition will serve to highlight all of the products and services that support this growth.
“What we have seen over the last year is that we are granting more approvals for the construction of modern buildings… we have an approval now for a seven storey high restaurant with a revolving top; this is the new dimension and the new development phase that Guyana is going through,” he announced.
He explained that consumers attending the event would have the opportunity to access information about various products, availability and pricing, and the various options available to them.
In addition to the benefits to consumers, the various participating companies will also benefit tremendously from exposure, locally as well as internationally, Ali added.
He explained, “Business competition has evolved into a very common environment and those in the hardware and construction business, such as landscapers, developers, builders, and manufacturers have the excellent opportunity of demonstrating their products to the public.”
This, he pointed out, is crucial in helping them to gain access into the market.
As to the regional and international interest generated, the minister highlighted that there are companies expected to come from Trinidad, Jamaica, Suriname, and New York.
As for impact of this interest, he explained that it would allow for the forging of important business relationships at various levels.
Minister Ali encouraged all to come out in their numbers and to be a part of the event which will serve as a stimulus for ‘Bridging the Gap and Transforming Guyana.”
