THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission wishes to place on record its satisfaction and pleasure to the Government of Guyana for its recognition of our sportsmen, sportswomen, sports personalities and sports officials/administrators by the bestowing of National Awards on a wide cross section of members of the sporting community. This act by the Government is a manifestation of its policy to reward our athletes and administrators for their invaluable contributions through their dedication, commitment and sacrifices to their respective sport disciplines at the National and International levels.
The refurbishing of existing, and the construction of new sports facilities, coupled with the many sports activities organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission throughout the country, must not be taken for granted.
Our athletes and administrators have undoubtedly demonstrated, under testing times and inadequate facilities, that with the will and determination success is within reach.  Many or our athletes have matched strides with the best in the world and have on many occasions gained international recognition for their performances.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission has also been honouring our athletes and administrators who have excelled in their respective fields, at its annual National Sports Awards Ceremonies.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission is extremely proud and takes this opportunity to extend profound congratulations to the athletes and administrators who are recipients of National Awards 2011.
Being conferred with such prestigious awards came as no surprise.  Your known dedication, commitment and personalities must have weighed heavily in influencing the endorsement of such significance by the Government of Guyana.
There is no doubt that your qualification; experience and maturity are in keeping with the esteemed award you now hold.
