Vieira’s attack on Edghill is criminal

I HAVE  listened with intrigue and yes, great disgust at the unwholesome and personally destructive statements and accusations on the Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission by definitely the latest propagandist and liar.
I have known Bishop Edghill for several decades, and while some may consider him controversial for whatever reasons, I have found him to be a true patriot; a man who will take all the bilious, slanderous and destructive elements that the envious and hateful can dish out, many times staying quiet for the sake of peace.  I have known him never to be any of the descriptions given by Mr. Tony Vieira.

Here is a man who works beyond the call of duty, who is absolutely decent and honest, blessed with the dedication to bring peace and goodwill to this country.

He is an avowed Christian of the highest order, and respects the rule of law. He is also someone who has respect for all religions.  Edghill sees the need to communicate with all humanity for the cause of peace in Guyana and the world.  How many in this country are like him, and even in the world?  He takes the abuse and still works for what is good and right.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Vieira has placed Mr. CN Sharma in an unnecessary and embarrassing situation, just because Mr. Sharma trusted him and had some faith in him.  Mr. Vieira knows the rules of responsible broadcasting, as he had been the owner of a television station.  He would never have made such slanderous and even criminal statements on his television, more so allowing anything similar by a producer or advertiser.

Personally, I believe Mr. CN Sharma is innocent, even though he is known to be a kind of political commentator. And while being anti-Government, Mr. Sharma is not one to desire destruction in our society and country. Mr. Vieira risks causing the closure of CNS Channel 6, or having it suspended.

An infraction has been committed, and Mr. Sharma realizes this, and has issued an unequivocal apology, the proper thing to do.

I think the apology should be accepted with a serious warning.  Definitely Vieira used CN Sharma!!!

He has no right to risk a person’s business and livelihood, especially knowing that CN is unwell and has other court matters to deal with.  It seems that Vieira is the true enemy of CN Sharma and not his friend.

Again with Mr. Tony Vieira, he is against the AFC, against the WPA, against the PNCR, and the PPP.  Who are you for, sir? Yourself!!!

A man like Vieira can risk pouring his venom, jealousies and hate, for after selling his TV station for numerous millions of dollars, he can afford to visit periodically for his favourite hobby of playing politician.  Sometimes, some people underestimate the intelligence of Guyanese and Vieira, of all people – a Portuguese, is playing the race card, as if he likes Afro-Guyanese so much.

I just hope this will not put at risk, undermine or even compromise in anyway the wonderful and great Portuguese descendants of this country, as some Guyanese may think he speaks for them, most of whom are great in commerce, entrepreneurship, the arts, the sciences, and decent politics.

Mr. Tony Vieira, if I have to choose one as friend, guide and mentor, I choose Bishop Edghill!!!
