Gunman snatches bag containing $400,000 cash
– shoots victim before escaping
A 43-year-old man escaped with his life yesterday following an armed robbery during which he was shot, injured and robbed of some $400,000 in cash. Police, in a statement, identified the victim as Floyd Dalton, a contractor of Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, who received a gunshot wound to the left side of his body.
He was however, treated and sent away at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after the incident.
According to the police, the incident occurred at about 12:15 hrs yesterday when Dalton was about to enter his motor vehicle in the service station compound at New Market and Camp Street, Georgetown, when he was confronted by an armed man who shot him to his left side and took away his pouch containing $400,000 in cash. The gunman then escaped.
Investigations are in progress.
