Freddie has become irrelevant

WHEN Freddie Kissoon says that he “wasn’t showing any attention to what (his) daughter was saying, and (that he) kept (his) gaze on the large billboard with Mr. Jagdeo’s face. (And that)There was something inside of (him) that made (him) sick…” One has to ask, what has that got to do with the common Guyanese people? He then, as is his wont, digressed to his youthful days, which were “preoccupied with memories” of “Tacuma Ogunseye and the fantastic courage he showed in the seventies and eighties.” I really do not know what to make of this scholar/analyst manqué. Does Freddie Kissoon ever stop to think how vacuous, inane, superficial and jocular he appears? He has lost relevance. He needs to be thankful for a number of things.
First, this pusillanimous figure has a voice only because he is living under the benevolent aegis of the PPP. Freddie Kissoon tells all Guyana what he did and with whom, but the sparse memory of this myrmidon is that of playing catamite (which he still does). Freddie, has always been, and will always be an ‘obnoxiously conspicuous’ and innocuous political quack. He lacks logic, profundity and integrity. He always has to say and write ‘something’ but in reality he does not have ‘something’ to say and write. Who cares what Freddie thinks of the Jagdeo and Ramotar portraits. Since he hopes that these be ‘toppled’ he should go and start the exercise. Since he thinks that Jagdeo is misleading the Berbicians, he should go and lead them. Freddie should take this and assimilate it: he represents no cause; he has no constituency, and therefore only serves for ‘comical relief.’
Secondly, Freddie’s heroes are his and his alone. He takes a mischievous, racist midget like Tacuma Ogunseye and apotheosises him. Yes, Ogunseye may have ‘special attraction’ for Freddie, and Freddie can even go and live next to him, and make offers of obeisance. But that is not a matter of concern for Guyanese. When Freddie says “(w) e owe them a huge debt” he should really say on behalf of whom he is speaking. Freddie does not represent the ‘collective conscience’ of Guyana. Also in using the inclusive “we fought against it (Burnham’s regime)”, one can ask, how is it that the Roopnarine’s, Hinds’ etc never include him (Freddie) in these said struggles. The man is really kids’ stuff.
Finally, when Freddie Kissoon says that he cannot honestly condemn Tacuma Ogunseye for what it is alleged he had said at an ACDA public meeting that again is Freddie’s business. He has no voice, so his juvenile views really do not count. By the way, did Mr. Ogunseye ever advocate that people demand power-sharing during the PNC’s tenure? Did he not deem the Buxton debacle as a ‘fight for freedom?’ And is he not directly appealing for the police and army to allow  his racist cohorts to create another ‘Buxtonian’ act in Guyana? Freddie has some kind of a hero, and yet he is ‘mad’ at those who rever the Jagans, Jagdeos and Ramotars of Guyana. Freddie is really showing who he is: a gadfly.
