SO it was Easter Monday and everyone across the country who love the usual annual fete got prepared with their colourful, attractive outfits, flip flop sunshades, beach bags and even straw hats and headed out with their vehicles to experience the fun and frolic at 63 beach on the most popular day at the beach, Easter Monday.
There was a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours of a variety of unusual kites that were very unique as well and were being flown in the sky by our Guyanese children to mark the third day from Good Friday, Christ’s crucifixion that Jesus had risen from the dead and will always watch over us from the heavens above.
The magnificent array of our Caribbean taste of colours was truly marvellous to stand up and watch these different kites soaring in the sky that brought heartwarming smiles to our tourists on the beach. We are so blessed to own this powerful exotic beach, 63 Beach, which partygoers, picnickers and revellers do not hesitate to take the opportunity to enjoy this superb beach that boasts its vastness and is rated the largest Caribbean tourist beach that locals and foreigners flock every holiday and Sundays. A parachutist even crossed overhead of the Sunsplash Resort towards the deep blue Atlantic placid waters that surrounded us that day. No high tide! Wow! It was a long and luxurious day at 63 Beach! A yacht even traversed the deep blue sea in front the crowd that even made it more spectacular knowing our people are relishing a good time in a variety of ways on the beach. Others engaged in the usual weekend sports such as water Jet Ski rides and speedboats moved across to lively up our atmosphere.
The most extravagant part about No.63 beach that day was people enjoying themselves to the highest extent. From an economic perspective there were more vendors than customers. “Things brown boy!” The large beverage companies, businesses and locals in the area came out to sell. Some stands were placed in front of others as a lack of proper management. Vending should have been placed in front the sandbanks along the beach to cater for room for vehicles passing by and pedestrians. A beer company set up its tent and large music near the midpoint of the beach, and was playing melodious reggae music that people couldn’t stop dancing that they danced the night away.
During that day I couldn’t resist enjoying myself. Even though I was running a small business on the beach I couldn’t help myself and danced to the rhythms that surrounded me and stole time to venture out on the beach and observe the various activities that were taking place. People and traffic were congested, a sign of an unorganised environment again. I believe the traffic police and 63 beach management committee could have done a better job to allow pedestrians to have a space to walk and not to collide with the ongoing vehicular traffic that was slow and choked along the beach.
The beach needs a better management system because one of my friends told me that it took him four hours to reach my stand since he had to crawl through the crowd to reach me.
I really had a splendid time with my family and friends and enjoyed the moment to the fullest and am real sure all of you who were present there at 63 beach Easter day enjoyed it too! The aftermath of the excitement left a massive amount of litter strewn across the beach because no garbage bins were in place nor TV commercials to sensitize citizens how to use the beach and to leave their footprints not their garbage on the beach. I believe we need a new beach management system to regulate and zone this beautiful beach we are so gifted to own for less confusion, accidents and litter as well as arranging areas for activities and parking instead of driving on the beach for the grand general public to come out and have a pleasurable and memorable time at 63 Beach.
Easter Monday at No.63 Beach was splendid
