Easter reminds us there is hope in perseverance
THIS weekend, Guyanese all across our great country will celebrate Easter, an important period in the Christian calendar.
On Good Friday, we reflect on the life of Jesus Christ. It is a time when we meditate on the resurrection and ascension of Christ after he was falsely accused, tried and crucified on the cross, all for the sake of offering Mankind salvation from sin.

On Easter Monday, we celebrate the glory of his resurrection, and this day traditionally has been a delightful time, when our fellow Guyanese celebrate in large numbers as we fly our kites and enjoy a day of fun with friends and family.
Easter reminds our nation that despite our calamities and difficulties, we can be victorious if we persevere and keep our faith in Almighty God.
The great message of Easter is therefore hope; hope that makes us have that confidence in God that in His goodness and love, we can triumph. The spiritual lessons offered in the resurrection of Jesus Christ give our lives meaning and direction, and the opportunity to start over and live better lives, no matter what are our present difficulties and circumstances.
The Alliance For Change knows that much crime, poverty and other social ills prevail in our land, and calls on every Guyanese to team with us for change, and for a new beginning.
Let us be encouraged by the words of Clarence W. Hall, who stated: “If Easter says anything to us today, it is this: You can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets, and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise.”
May the resurrection joy lift us from loneliness, weakness, and despair to strength, beauty, happiness and hope for change in Guyana. Let us not merely say, “Christ is risen,” but let us say, “Guyana will rise.”
May Almighty God bless all Guyana.
