THE police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 01:15hrs Wednesday at Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, during which Balram Teekaram, 43, and his son, Rajendra Teekaram, 17, were attacked and robbed of a silver chain, cell phone and iPod by three men, two of whom were armed with handguns. Balram Teekaram was aroused by a noise in his home, and upon checking, he was confronted by the perpetrators who held him at gunpoint and demanded cash and jewellery. The men also held up Rajendra after which they ransacked the house and took away the articles and escaped. During the incident the two victims were beaten by the robbers.

The Teekarams were taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where Balram was admitted while Rajendra was treated and sent away.
