ACTING Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday remanded accused trunker (one who steals from unattended motor vehicles) Alvin Solomon to prison on a simple larceny charge. The defendant,a taxi driver,(no address given) pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on April 8, he stole $100,000, a laptop computer and other property, valued a total $357,000, belonging to Davindra Rameshwar.
Prosecutor, Police Corporal Venetta Pindar said the virtual complainant parked his car and locked it on Church Street before going into a store.
The prosecutor said Rameshwar heard the alarm and made a check but saw no one and went back inside. However, when he went back to the vehicle, he discovered his loss and investigating police found the laptop in Solomon’s possession.
The case will be called, again, on April 28.
