Trio on separate charges of trafficking and possession of narcotics

RYAN Tousaint (no address given), Justin Thomas, of Lot 16 Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara and Robert Jones, of Lot 123 Third Street, Silvertown Wismar, Linden appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, to answer separate charges of trafficking and possession of narcotics. It is alleged that on April 5, Tousaint and Thomas cultivated a prohibited plant (Cannabis Sativa) and, on the said date, they had 1kg 929grammes of cannabis in their possession for the purpose of trafficking. They both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Also, on the said date, Jones had 12grammes of cannabis in his possession. He pleaded not guilty and was placed on $60,000 bail.
The other two defendants were remanded to prison after Police Inspector Stephen Telford made an objection to bail.
The matters were transferred to the Christianburg court for April 12.
