HAROLD Glenn was fined $50,000 or an alternative of 120 days imprisonment, after he pleaded guilty before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, at the Vreed-en-Hoop Court, yesterday,to the charge of simple larceny. It was alleged that, between April 6 and April 7, at the Parika mini-bus park, East Bank Essequibo, he stole an amplifier valued $45,000, property of Orvil Black.
Prosecutor, Police Sergeant Sherwin Matthews, told the court that on the day in question, the virtual complainant, who is the driver of mini-bus BHH 8764 (from which the amplifier was removed), saw that the article mentioned was missing.
Matthews said a report was made at the Parika Police Station and the police arrested the defendant.
The prosecutor further told the court that the defendant confessed to stealing the article and cooperated with the police in helping to recover the amplifier, which he had already sold.
Meanwhile, in the said court, Rajendra Balgobin, 24, (no address given) pleaded not guilty to a charge of receiving stolen property.
Particulars of the offence stated that on April 7, at Parika, East Bank Essequibo, he received an amplifier valued $45,000, knowing same to be stolen or unlawfully obtained.
He was granted $40,000 bail and is to return for trial on May 9.
