On their vision for Guyana…

GCCI to meet presidential candidates of political parties
PRESIDENT of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr. Komal Ramnauth said, Tuesday, that the organisation is planning to meet each of the presidential candidates of the different political parties and members of the business community, so that the respective political leaders can share their vision for Guyana.

“The Chamber’s Security and Governance Committee has planned this and we are hoping to meet soon. Now that the PPP/C has[sic] chosen their candidate, we can proceed with our plans,” he said.
Ramnauth said the private sector welcomes the selection of a candidate to lead the PPP/C.
He added, now that the PPP/C has concluded its selection process, the Chamber will be writing to the different leaders, inviting them to meet with the business community.
“This is a forum where we are hoping to have the presidential candidates address the business community, as well as give its members opportunity to ask questions as the vision for Guyana’s future is presented by the rivals,” Ramnauth said.
The Central Committee of the ruling People’s Progress Party (PPP), on Monday, officially announced that its General Secretary, Mr. Donald Ramotar has been unanimously identified as its presidential candidate for the 2011 General and Regional Elections.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS), Dr. Roger Luncheon, who made the announcement, said the consensual choice reflects the party’s leadership commitment to maintaining party unity, continuing progress in Guyana and building stronger unity at all levels of the Guyanese nation.
Ramotar has served on several corporate boards.
