BASED on the publication of a letter, “GT&T needs to directly supervise…in rural areas” (SN, Friday, March 18), I wish to report that I have been subject to threatening and incendiary remarks from the Georgetown representative of the Guyana Softball League highlighted in that letter. The individual is quite disturbed by the letter and instead of responding rationally, is threatening to disqualify both the Cotton Field Wild Oats and myself from the entire competition. He argues that I am colluding with the Cotton Field team and as such need to be severed along with them.
Yesterday’s letter spoke of the need of the GSL coordinators to act fairly and professionally, but based on the emotional outbursts of this gentleman, that seems unlikely. There is quite simply an abuse of power.
GT&T needs to understand its competition is being brought into disrepute by these officials and the very people who are supposed to benefit – the fans countrywide – are being victimized.
Thank you.
