Driver, passenger remanded after illegal gun, ammo find

TWO men, Lloyd Jupiter and Lennox Kennedy (no addresses given) were remanded to prison yesterday, on joint charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, they pleaded not guilty to having six live .32 rounds and a .32 ‘Taurus’ revolver, on March 9, without being the holders of licences for them.

Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said police on mobile patrol observed the passenger in motor car HB 7527 acting suspiciously and stopped the vehicle, ordering him and the driver to disembark.
The prosecutor said a search of the car yielded the gun and bullets where the passenger, Jupiter was seated and he claimed ownership.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson, for Kennedy, said he is a taxi driver and was hired by Jupiter, not knowing about the things found.
But his bail application was also denied and the defendants will remain incarcerated through March 14.
