POLICE have detained two men, who are in custody, following the Ann’s Grove foreshore robbery of goldsmith Mahendra Persaud. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of one suspect and the other was apprehended by public-spirited persons and handed over to the police.
The victim, 29, of Mon Repos North, also on the East Coast of Demerara, was robbed on Tuesday about 12:30 hrs, by two men.
Persaud had made an arrangement with a man to purchase some raw gold and he was taken to the Ann’s Grove crime scene where he was confronted by another man. The latter dealt him a blow to his head and took away $99,000, a cell phone, personal jewellery and a scale from him.
