INVESTIGATIONS are being conducted into an incident that occurred at about 22:40 hrs on Sunday night at Friendship, East Bank Demerara during which Anthony Charles, 20, of Hadfield Street, Georgetown, was allegedly shot and injured to his left foot during an altercation with a police rank.

Police, in a statement, said Charles was treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and sent away.

The police rank was not issued with a service firearm nor a personal firearm and has denied the allegation.  He is under close arrest as the investigations continue.
