A SEVENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD man appeared before Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin, at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, West Coast Demerara, yesterday, charged with assaulting his wife to cause her actual bodily harm.
Joseph Fernando pleaded not guilty to having, on February 24, at Salem, East Bank Essequibo, assaulted Yvonne Abrahams.
He told the Court he was joking when he picked up a kitchen knife and threw it in the direction of the woman’s face.
Fernando was granted $40,000 bail until his May 17 trial.
