Cow killed on Sheriff Street

A COW was killed yesterday morning at the junction of Duncan and Sheriff Streets, in Georgetown.
Police were on the scene when the Guyana Chronicle went there about 09:10 hrs, after being alerted that people were about to dismember the animal and share it.

Its owner, who prefers not to be named, said a caller had informed that three cows were hit on the roadway.
The animals had been let loose, by persons unknown, some time on Monday night and eyewitnesses said they heard a loud sound; but by the time they looked out, the vehicle that caused it had already sped away, leaving one cow dead and two others injured.
The man who owned the ill-fated cow, in ‘A’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, said its meat would be donated to the Guyana Zoological Park to feed other animals while the two that suffered injuries would receive treatment towards recovery.
